Small thrills. As I wrote in this blog about Mississippi, I always felt like ditching the abbreviation and spelling out the whole word. Even though it meant extra effort, feeling for the right keys. I think I even started looking forward to it, but our days in Mississippi were short, and now long gone. Each time I type it out, I hear that grade school sing-song repetition in my head that always made that state stand out from spelling drudgery: MI-SS-I-SS-I-PP-I. And it just makes me feel good to climb on to that old rhythm and peck away. Say it with me brothahs and sistahs—M-i-ss-i-ss-i-pp-i!
