When we checked in at Trapark in Pecos, Texas, Charlie told us that the place was built by Italian prisoners of war during the war. And that the building in which we stood was a bus station then. The park was created for mobile homes, but they were being phased out as the home dwellers left. There were large flocks of birds rising together, moving, and settling on trees and wires. Ultimately, I have never seen as many deserted homes and downtown locations empty as in Pecos. We left not having had our question answered: when and by whom are the 5 large motels filled. The first rodeo (row-dee-oh) in the U.S. was in Pecos, and they have rodeo days once a year, but... Regardless, I am happy to have spent time there.

Leaving Pecos
So, at a roadside picnic area I saw this scat. Definitely not a dog. I took this picture hoping some scat expert/enthusiast would be able to identify who left it.
I LOVE NEW MEXICO.
We've just arrived at the Trailer Village RV Park in Roswell. The UFO museum comes later.
Our first New Mexican meal was here. Jerry makes the pies homemade. The apples, cherries and pecans are his! I had pecan. The best restaurant pecan pie ever.
The moon through the trees in Roswell, New Mexico
Andre got his steak at Peppers. The great thing about parts of Texas and New Mexico dining? Chips and homemade salsa comes with the menu!

Andre's granddaughter Annabelle is three February 18!
